Group Project Ideas
You should try to organize group projects with your residents and
then get them to actually perform the project themselves.
- Cookbook
- Prior to a vacation when everybody will be going home,
ask residents to bring back a few of their favorite recipes.
Compile all the recipes into a cookbook. Come up with a creative
title. Make enough copies to give each resident one.
- Mail-Round Robin
- An add-on letter is sent around until everyone in the
section has received and added to it. The letter goes around
again with each person taking out their old news and adding
new news. Besides writing about themselves, pictures and
creative works can be put into the envelope. This would be a
good way for the students to become acquainted at the beginning
of the year.
- Photo Album or Scrapbook
- Have the RA take pictures of everyone involved in
various activities in the section. Get a photo album and
decorate the cover. Have everyone sign the book and
fill it with the section pictures. You may also wish to
keep small works created by section members in the same book.
- Section pictures
- As a section, pose for a group picture. Give each section
member a small picture and get a copy blown up to display on your
bulletin board. You may wish to get residents to sign the large
copy.
- Student Information Catalog
- A small hall catalog listing each individual's major,
interests, and personal data may be used to involved the
withdrawn or shy students in hall programs.
